MENJUAL KEMISKINAN (Analisis Semiotika John Fiske Mengenai Komodifikasi Kemiskinan pada Acara Orang Pinggiran di TRANS7)

Commodification for Mosco described as transformation of value in use becomes exchange rate. Something which basically does not have sale value is transformed become commodity which can
be sold. In this case, the poverty which we often see is become a product by media and it becomes popular spectacle which gets good attention from spectators and advertisers. This study aims
to know how the process of poverty commodification happens on remote people program (orang pinggiran). By John Fiske analysis model, this study focuses on three levels, namely level of reality,
representation and ideology. In level of reality, the poverty signs are shown clearly in this program, for example, the clothing of main character is looked shabby, grief expression, the house is not
good, etc. In representation level, editing techniques can make spectacle become more dramatic and touching. In ideology level, it looks clear that capitalist ideology is closely connected to this
program. Poverty is seen as commodity which has high value. Characteristics of people tend to accept what it is without seeing what happen behind the texts/spectacle. This is then exploited
by capitalists to design a product which has potential to achieve maximum profit with minimal capital.
