There are two schools dominating study about voting behavior in current era, namely: sociological and psychological schools. The first it believes in someone’s voting behavior influenced by environment factor. While the second, it believes in someone’s voting behavior constructed jointly or individually by emotional relationship to the political parties or candidates,
orientation to the issues, and analysis to the candidates. Contradicting two thoughts will only narrow the object of sociological studies as a science which studies the community. To avoid the trap on the debate of two schools, the writer chooses to confront both schools in the study of voting behavior. The meeting of both schools produces mapping of voting behavior of NTB societies in three categories. The first category, the voters
choose because of figures and role model; this category is called as traditional voters. The second category, the voters choose because of considerations of rationality such as trust to the capacity of candidates; this category is called as rational voters. The third category, the voters choose and don’t choose because of technical factors of election and economic activities which hamper them. It is called as pragmatic voters.
